Here is what the guy who drove it has to say:

**First drive B10 V8S **
'After putting my car into the workshop to mount the stripes and labels I got the key to the newest engine from ALPINA, in case mounted in the E39 body.

The car was ALPINA blue ( I think ), and the first thing I notived was the big drilled brake discs and the blue calpipers in front, nice and equiped with the new style ALPINA wheels.

I jumped inside, adjusted the seat and mirrors, got a big smile and a final ' have fun' from the very nice girl from APLINA.....
I fired up the engine and noticed the very potent sound and a very stable idle a shor blip on the throttle indicated a very healty responce.
I put it in sport mode and swiched back to first and slowly moved out onto the roads.
I aimed at the Autobahn to test the capabilities, no not the fuel consumption .
Onto the autobahn I aceleratied rapidly to 200 kph and stayed there to get a feeling for the car, it was stable and felt very safe, no wind noice and just a bit of nice engine humming.

The steering was perfect for this kind of driving and also the suspension, a little harder than I expected but just to my liking

A trailer jumped in front of me and I had to test the brakes a little bit, yep they worked fine........

I waited and waited and waited and......... until the fuc,,,ng truck moved over....... at that point I was in 3 doing 90 kph, I imidiatly went WOT and it kicked back to second and started to move.
The engine noice was unmistakenly a V8 growl pulling strong all the way until in changed at 6500 rpm. and then the music started all over again. At 170 it changed to 4 with and the revs fell to just under 5000 rpms which was a bit to big a jump to my opinion, it lost some momentum but still pulled strong until 250 where I again had to test the brakes
OK no need to go faster so I headed for some country roads to test the capabilities on some more twisty roads.

I took it careful in the start, the big trees on both sides of the roads was something I did not want to make contact with .
The car feelt very neutral, no sign of under steer. I did not try any kamikaze stuff or anything I just tried to get a feel for the car.
I soon got the feeling that to get this car into a powerglide did not rquire more than a bit off fancy foot work if you get my meaning.
I was actually very fun to drive, the auto box worked very good and very fast for this kind of transmission.

On my way home I stopped for some pics and to get a indication off 'off the line' performance '
All the baby sitter gadgets off,.... left foot on the brake, right foot on the throttle and here we go, some wheelspin made it change into second to soon but I still passed 140 kph after app 10 seconds not bad, not bad at all.'[/b]

Η σύνδεση είναι στο δίκτυο του πανεπιστημίου με 100 Μbps, χωρίς περιορισμό bandwidth για εμένα, επειδή έχω δικό μου φορητό Η/Υ και δεν κάνω λογκιν (δεν έχουν σκεφτεί αυτήν την 'τρύπα' ). Το τι σύνδεση έχει το πανεπιστήμιο με το ίντερνετ δεν ξέρω... Πάντως έχω δει μέχρι 2mbps, αλλά όχι από έναν τόπο μόνο (πολλαπλά ταυτόχρονα κατεβάσματα), γιατί δεν έχω βρεί τόσο γρήγορο τόπο και να έχει και μεγάλα αρχεία. Τα 0,8 - 1Μbps ειναι πολύ συνηθισμένη ταχύτητα...

Η BMW δεν ξέρω άμεσα πόσο κάνει, γιατί εδώ δεν έχουν περιοδικά σαν τα δικά μας με τιμοκατάλογο...
Θα κοιτάξω να το ψάξω.

Το σίγουρο είναι πως οι τιμές αλλάζουν από καντόνι σε καντόνι... (ίσως η φορολογία ή οι πινακίδες).
