η GM προχώρησε τόσο γρήγορα την μείωση των δαπανών της, που δεν χρειάζεται να πάρει κρατική επιχορήγηση 2 δις δολ. για τον μήνα Μάρτη!

1)GM to pull Cadillac from some European markets

General Motors Corp. will halt Cadillac sales in more than half of the brand's European markets following the collapse of its regional distributor. The U.S. carmaker will focus on markets such as Russia, the United Kingdom and Switzerland where the luxury brand has been able to compete against Germany's BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi premium brands.

Και οι κακές ειδήσεις για την GM/Cadillac στην Ευρώπη δεν σταματούν εδώ,αλλά επεκτείνονται και στον τεχνικό τομέα....

2)Στον υποψήφιο αγοραστή της Saab η GM προτίθεται να παράσχει πατώματα και κινητήρες για 5-10 χρόνια...με την προϋπόθεση ότι θα έχει ελεύθερη πρόσβαση στο R&D center του σουηδικού brand!!!
Kαι μετά αναριωτούνται γιατί δεν ενδιαφέρεται κανείς.

3)Volvo sale: Chinese are 'frontrunners'

Ford has admitted that several Chinese car companies are interested in buying Volvo – and revealed that no Western car makers are in the running to acquire the Swedish company.

Ford has been talking to what it describes as “a number of interested parties”, and has taken these talks to a new, more detailed level to discuss how Volvo could be separated from its parent company.

“A couple of the frontrunners are Chinese car firms,” a highly placed Ford insider told Autocar today. One of these companies is Geely, China’s first privately owned car firm, which is known to be keen to expand its influence beyond China and other developing markets. But none of the interested parties is a Western car manufacturer.

As it did with Jaguar and Land Rover, Ford wants the future owner of Volvo to demonstrate that it understands the culture of the company and would respect Volvo’s uniquely Swedish nature.

Many estimates of the price Ford would take for Volvo are wildly inaccurate, according to the source. “The $6bn (£4.1bn) that has been suggested is too high; we’d be expecting less than Tata paid for Jaguar Land Rover, because Volvo is not profitable and we’re in a recession. Around $1bn (£700m) is more accurate.”

The Ford insider also said that this is only the start of a process that could take over a year to conclude. “This is the end of the beginning, not the beginning of the end,' he said. 'It could take as long as the JLR deal, and is unlikely to be before the end of the year.”

Ε συγνώμη αλλά η παραίτησή τους επειδή δεν συμμορφώνονται με τις υποδείξεις για μείωση των αποδοχών τους με αφήνει παγερά αδιάφορο. Για τα υπόλοιπα κατανοώ και ανησυχώ, αλλα αυτούς δεν τους λυπάμαι καθόλου.

Δεν παραιτήθηκε.Εξαναγκάστηκε σε παραίτηση,κατόπιν απαιτήσεως της επιτροπής του κογκρέσου.Τόσο η GM όσο και η Chrysler θα λάβουν τελικά την κρατική βοήθεια.Η GM έχει διάστημα 60 ημερών προκειμένου να καταθέσει το σχέδιο αναδιοργάνωσης και η Chrysler ένα μήνα να οριστικοποιήσει την συμφωνία με την Fiat,διαφορετικά θα οδηγηθεί σε πτώχευση.

GM gets 60 days, names Henderson CEO; Chrysler, Fiat to link

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- General Motors and Chrysler LLC will each be given capital and time to accelerate their attempts to restructure and survive, according to a government aid plan set for release today.
GM also confirmed earlier reports that Rick Wagoner has stepped down at the request of the administration. He will be succeeded as CEO by COO Fritz Henderson. Board member Kent Kresa, chairman emeritus of Northrop Grumman Corp., will be interim non-executive chairman of the GM board.
A government official, who asked not to be identified because the plan would not be announced by President Barack Obama until today, said GM will be given 60 days to determine the best path forward.

The official did not say how much capital each company would receive over the next several weeks, and did not indicate what long-term financing GM might receive if it shows that a turnaround plan can be successful.
Chrysler has said it needs additional funding as soon as Tuesday to avoid a cash crisis. GM has previously said it needs more than $2 billion for April.
GM has asked for more than $16 billion in new government loans, while Chrysler wants $5 billion to ride out the weakest U.S. market for new cars in almost 30 years. Ford, which is also struggling, is not seeking federal help.
Wagoner was the second car executive to lose his job on Sunday. The board of France's PSA Peugeot Citroen fired CEO Christian Streiff and replaced him with Philippe Varin, who will take up the position on June 1. Peugeot last month posted a $460 million net loss and said it expected to stay in the red until 2010.
'Mr. Wagoner has been asked to resign as a political offering despite his having led GM's painful restructuring to date,' said U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, a Michigan Republican and member of the House Financial Services Committee.
Said Rebecca Lindland, director of IHS Global Insight: 'We had feared the Obama administration may force some of the executives out. But we don't really see how this would make GM the better, stronger company that Obama wants it to be.”
John Casesa, a managing partner at New York-based consulting firm Casesa Shapiro Group said: 'GM lost its footing in the late 1970s and the board didn't seem to notice for another 20 years. Rick made a lot of decisions, but they came too late,'
GM and Chrysler have run through most of the initial rescue money and are at risk of bankruptcy without immediate help.
The government has said it does not want to push GM or Chrysler into bankruptcy, although some analysts believe that is the only way to truly restructure the companies.
Wagoner had been outspoken in his opposition to a Chapter 11 reorganization, saying it would drive away consumers and probably lead to GM's liquidation.
But neither automaker has finished the cost-cutting overhaul dictated by the terms of their December bailout launched by the Bush administration that set a March 31 deadline for determining whether the companies can be saved.

Για την Chrysler τα νέα έχουν ως εξής.
Μέσα σε 30 ημέρες πρέπει είτε να ολοκληρώσει τη συμφωνία με την Fiat και να λάβει χρήματα από την κυβέρνηση, είτε να οδηγηθεί σε χρεωκοπία,καθώς μόνη της δεν θεωρείται εφικτό να επιζήσει και άρα δεν θα λάβει δεύτερο πακέτο στήριξης.Η επιτροπή Obama απαιτεί το ποσοστό μετοχών που θα δοθεί στη Fiat να μην είναι της τάξεως του 35%.... αλλά του 20%.Το υπόλοιπο 15% θα εκχωρηθεί στη Fiat(πάντα gratis) μόλις η τελευταία ολοκληρώσει την μεταφορά τεχνογνωσίας της (πατώματα-κινητήρες -μεταδόσεις) επί αμερικανικού εδάφους.Επιπλέον η Fiat θα μπορεί να αυξήσει το μερίδο της στο 55%,αποκτώτας τον πλήρη έλεγχο της Chrysler,μόνο αφού τα ποσά της οικονομικής βοήθειας που έλαβε η αμερικανική εταιρεία,επιστραφούν στο αμερικανικό δημόσιο.

Πτώση δε της τάξης του 25,5% σημείωσε στη Wall Street ο τίτλος της GM,μετά την ανακοίνωση του Obama ότι δεν θεωρεί πλέον απίθανη την υπαγωγή του κολοσσού στο chapter 11 (επιτήρηση).
Ο Wagoneer έφυγε αφού πήρε μαζί του και 20 εκατομύρια δολάρια από την GM,αφήνοντας ως παρακαταθήκη των 8 ετών προεδρίας του,5 συνεχόμενα χρόνια αρνητικών ισολογισμών,τα οποία γονάτισαν τον αμερικανικό κολοσσό πολύ πριν ξεσπάσει η κρίση,50 χιλιάδες αμερικανούς εργαζομένους ήδη στο δρόμο,καμιά 15αριά δισεκατομύρια δολάρια του αμερικανικού δημοσίου ήδη 'καμένα'....και μια κατραπακιά από την παγίδα που του έστησε η Fiat σε συνεργασία με την ιταλική κυβέρνηση,όταν ενώ πήγε για μαλλί...βγήκε κουρεμένος.
