In a similar scenario to the Saturn - Penske story which ended with GM's decision to wind down the brand, tiny super car maker Koenigsegg, backed by China's BAIC, pulled out of a deal to acquire GM's Swedish Saab unit only a week away before a November 30 deadline. And even though the Swedish government has some hopes that a new buyer might be found to save Saab, the future of the brand looks very dim.

'For every day that passes the challenge gets bigger and bigger,' Swedish Enterprise Minister Maud Olofsson told reporters.

An insider told Bloomberg that General Motors' board will decide the future of Saab at its monthly meeting on December 1st. The person added that the automaker doesn't expect any other bidders to emerge and that a shutdown is imminent.

'They should just get rid of it,' told the news site Tom Stallkamp, industrial partner at buyout firm Ripplewood Holdings LLC, which took part in an unsuccessful bid for GM's Opel division. 'Saab really doesn't matter in terms of technology, and there is no synergy like there was with Opel.'

Easy to say when you don't take into consideration the fact that behind the nameplate there are people with families as Saab employs around 3,500 workers in Trollhattan while thousands of other jobs are also linked to the firm. If you take a moment to think about that, it actually does matter...

Unfortunately though, the harsh reality is that if GM were to restart the sales process of Saab, it would be extremely difficult to find a willing buyer to complete the deal in a short time frame. If it were to take longer, the Detroit automaker would have to continue to fund Saab and that, doesn't seem to be a viable option for GM today.

Many like Stephen Pope, chief global strategist for Cantor Fitzgerald in London, seem to agree that Saab's days are numbered. 'That's it, goodnight, goodbye,' Pope told Bloomberg. 'Saab has reached the end of the road, there's nothing left in the tank.'

There have been reports that China's BAIC as well as Geely, might be interested in Saab. However, Geely is already in talks with Ford for its Volvo unit so we seriously doubt that they will turn their focus on Saab at this moment while in what concerns BAIC, analysts believe that the if the Chinese firm decides to show an interest, it will most likely be for Saab's assets and not the company as a whole.

Θα ηθελα να εβλεπα πινακες πωλησεων της Μιτσουμπισι ,πρεπει να ειναι τρομερα πεσμενη σε πωλησεις και βεβαιως οχι αδικα ,αφου δεν εχει να προσφερει κατι το ανταγωνιστικο, ουραγος εχει καταντησει νομιζω οτι μονο λανσερ πουλαει αντε και μερικα outlander και αυτα μια στο τοσο

Και εγώ πιστεύω πως έχουν να κερδίσουν πολλα οι δυο εταιρειες...με την peugeot να παίρνει πολύ μεγάλα ατού και στον μηχανικό τομέα καθώς και σε επίπεδο μάρκετινγκ.(βλ. αξιοπιστία)

Η PSA παίρνει ηλεκτρικά , υβριδικά και κορυφαία με μεγάλη παράδοση και αναγνωρισιμότητα τετρακίνηση , χωρίς να επενδύσει ούτε 1 € και χωρίς να κινδυνεύσει από αποτυχίες σχεδιασμού και παιδικής ηλικίας .
Επίσης παίρνει μιά υψηλή βάση πωλήσεων στην Ασία , Βόρεια και Νότια Αμερική που εκτός της Κίνας δε έχει μεγάλη παρουσία .
H Mitsubishi προφανώς παίρνει τα € και την υποστήριξη μιάς μεγάλης Ευρωπαικής εταιρείας .
Ας ετοιμαστούμε τώρα γιά την μικρότερη σειρά suv που είδαμε ήδη σε φωτογραφίες , ώστε το κασκάι και το γέτι να έχουν αντίπαλο .

Το πρόβλημα είναι ότι ακριβώς τα ίδια πράγματα, και με το πρόσθετο ατού ότι έπαιζε σε διαφορετική κλίμακα τιμής άρα συμπλήρωσε τη γκάμα της χωρίς όβερλαπ και καννιβαλισμούς, βρήκε στη Μιτσουμπίσι και η Μερσεντές πριν από περίπου 10 χρόνια αλλά τα φόρτωσαν στον κόκορα λίαν συντόμως.

Volkswagen Agrees to Buy 19.9 Stake in Suzuki as it Eyes Small car and Indian Markets

Confirming rumors that have been circulating for the past few months, Volkswagen and Suzuki announced on Wednesday that they have reached a common understanding to establish a close long-term strategic partnership.

Under the agreement, VW will buy a 19.9 per cent stake in Suzuki Motor Corp for 225 billion Yen (approx US$2.5 billion) while the Japanese automaker will invest up to one half of the amount received from the German automaker into shares of Volkswagen.

The move comes only a few days after the Volkswagen Group announced that it acquired a 49.9% stake in Porsche AG's car operations for €3.9 billion.

Volkswagen plans to make the best of Suzuki's expertise in small, fuel-efficient cars as well the Japanese firm's presence in India where it controls Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, the maker of half of all cars sold in the country.

At a joint press conference in Tokyo, Suzuki Chief Executive Officer Osamu Suzuki said that the two companies also plan to develop hybrid and electric vehicles under both brands.

'As demand continues to rise for smaller cars and for powertrains with higher fuel efficiency and lower CO2 output, Volkswagen and Suzuki will offer a compelling solution for customers in emerging markets buying a car for the first time and also for customers in advanced economies seeking to lower their CO2 footprint while still enjoying the freedom of transport offered by an exciting range of cars,' VW said in a prepared statement to the press.

Στην Beijing Auto ορισμένα πάγια της Saab, ανάμεσά τους και τα πνευματικά δικαιώματα των μοντέλων 9-3 και 9-5.

ΠΕΚΙΝΟ (Dow Jones)-- Η Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co ανακοίνωσε σήμερα ότι κατέληξε σε συμφωνία για την απόκτηση ορισμένων παγίων της θυγατρικής της Saab, θυγατρικής της General Motors, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των πνευματικών δικαιωμάτων των μοντέλων της Saab 9-3 sedan και 9-5.

Εξάλλου, θα αποκτήσει τις τεχνολογίες μηχανών τούρμπο και κιβωτίων ταχυτήτων, καθώς επίσης και μέρος του βιομηχανικού εξοπλισμού, όπως ανακοίνωσε η κινεζική αυτοκινητοβιομηχανία.

Η Saab θα προσφέρει στήριξη στην εκμετάλλευση των συγκεκριμένων τεχνολογιών καθώς η Beijing Auto επιθυμεί να κατασκευάσει τα δικά της αυτοκίνητα, όπως αναφέρεται στην ανακοίνωση.

Οι οικονομικές λεπτομέρειες της συμφωνίας δεν έγιναν γνωστές.
