Dear Competitors
As you will no doubt hear we have been able to secure Yellow Hat as a sponsor for the 2008/2009 UAE
Touring Car Championship. Over the past months we have also been busy organising television coverage for
our National Race Days and are pleased to announce that this is now confirmed with Talkabout Media are to
produce 30 minute highlights television packages after each race. They will also produce a season preview
and a season review show to be aired accordingly. Below is an overview of the television coverage which will
be updated when new information arises and also details of the comprehensive press release programme to
be distributed to the printed media.

National Race Day Television CoverageObjective
To produce a series of locally produced television magazine shows based around race day events at Dubai
Autodrome for the 2008/09 season. Also the production of short VNRs (see below) for distribution to TV
networks for use in news/sports programmes. DVDs of these National Race Day shows will also be made
available for a nominal fee.

Content
The editorial content of the program(s) would reflect the nature of the National Race Days – including on
track racing highlights - with a heavy emphasis on the people and the ‘stories’ about competitors. Short
‘feature segments’ showcasing individuals and teams would be woven around actual race highlights. Key
race officials, team owners and sponsor interviews would also be included. Winning drivers and riders will be
required to attend post race interviews.
Duration of programs would be 30 minutes.
Treatment
All programs would be shot on via multiple ENG crews on HDV offering exceptional broadcast color and
clarity. The programs would be fast paced including a mixture of feature segments, interviews and music
montages. A strong use of on screen graphics and music would be utilized keeping the programs both
entertaining and interesting for motor racing aficionado’s and passive race motor racing viewers alike. The
objective is to create a show of international standards.

Sponsorship
Sponsorship of programs is fully anticipated and allowance will be made for sponsors logo’s, colours etc
should be incorporated into the overall program packaging and on screen graphics, i.e. opening and closing
titles, break bumpers, on-screen graphics. Similarly, special attention to sponsors on site branding will be
given during filming of the programs.

Distribution
Distribution agreements have been secured and we are under discussion with a number of broadcaster’s
including Showtime, Ten Sports, Dubai Sports, ART, Sky Sports as well as other networks which will ensure
an impressive footprint for the show. Confirmed dates for airing of the National Race Days highlights show
will be made available by the relevant networks.

VNR (Video News Release)
We would require a 2 to 3 minute Video News Release (VNR) in broadcast quality and internet quality for
general release to the media, specifically television broadcasters and internet sites. This should sum up the
day in the two minutes with voice over etc.
Additional Video Material and Rights
We would retain all the rights to all video material produced by TAM at our venue – including out takes – for
future use and/or sale to a third party. We would like to create a partnership with TAM for the
distribution/management/sale of our video material (produced by them during coverage of our events)

Word from Talkabout Media
Ian Carless, Executive Producer for Talkabout Media, tasked with producing the television programmes said,
“This is a very exciting project for us and we’re delighted to be working with the Dubai Autodrome. We have a
strong background in sports television production for international broadcasters and will be producing a series
of 30 minute race highlight programs for distribution to a number of networks. These will be fast paced and
exciting, showcasing the action from the National Race Day’s and capturing the essence of local motorsport.
Distribution agreements have been secured and we are under discussion with a number of broadcaster’s
including Showtime, Ten Sports, Dubai Sports, ART, Sky Sports as well as other networks which will ensure an
impressive footprint for the show. In addition, we’ll be producing a short 2 minute VNR after each race which will
be distributed to television news/sports departments and also made available through TrackTalk.”

Printed Media Action Plan
In an effort to bolster and raise the bar regarding coverage of national race day events at the Dubai
Autodrome will, as in 2007/2008, have a comprehensive media service
Press Releases
English and Arabic reports and distribution to over 400 media contacts/outlets – locally, regionally and
internationally.

On the Wednesday prior to each event we will send out a mail shot to all media (English & Arabic)
providing a detailed preview of the event including buildup report, quotes, pictures from leading participants
and overview of what to expect on race day. This will be accompanied by invitations to media to attend.

A press advisory will be sent to all daily newspapers (English & Arabic) informing of them on times to
expect reports after the race for their Saturday edition (Friday deadline) so they are aware when to expect
material and hopefully plan accordingly.

Immediately after the final race (around 6pm) a full report, pictures and results of all the day’s races will be
distributed to all daily English media – the Arabic distribution will depend on what can be arranged by Tamra
with regards to translation.

The exact same report will be sent out to all newspapers (English & Arabic) on Saturday just in case we
miss the previous day’s deadline.

On Sunday a more detailed review, quotes, championship points, additional pictures etc. of the event will
be distributed to all weekly/monthly media – English & Arabic.

During a gap on the calendar in between events we will send out feature type stories, interviews etc with
pictures to all media - Arabic & English – to keep the momentum going.

All material with high res images will uploaded to the Dubai Autodrome Online Media Website

Development and maintenance of a database of each driver including headshots, action pictures and fact
file.

Race Day Media Area
This will be set up on each National Race Day.
Media Area at the Dubai Autodrome will be set up for each of the national race day events. The Media Area
will be open to journalists/photographers/cameramen covering the event.
Will provide press releases and photography while assisting all media, team/competitor representatives as
and when required from the Media Centre

Website
TrackTalk has proved to be a popular source of information with all race reports, results and pictures
published online after each event. For 2008/2009 options for live timing, video clips etc are being planned.
The site now has a section called eReport which encourages competitors, team managers, team personnel etc
to post news and information when it arises.

Points will be awarded on the following basis to the registered competitors who
are classified finishers in each class based on the final results of each qualifying
race;

4 or more eligible starters in class – 1st 5 points, 2nd 4 points, 3rd 3 points, 4th 2
point and 1 point for all other finishers
3 eligible starters in class – 1st 3 points, 2nd 2 points, 3rd 1 point
2 eligible starters in class – 1st 2 points, 2nd 1 point
1 eligible starter in class – 1st 1 point

Points scored by a competitor in different classes will be totalled separately towards
the final placing. However a change of vehicle within a class during the season
will not affect a competitor’s points total.

Competitors shall count their results in the total number of races run, less two.

2.3 Ties will be resolved in the following order;
a) By considering in the best scoring events of the competitors concerned, the
number of class wins.
b) By considering in the best scoring events of the competitors concerned, the
number of seconds in class and third in class and so on.
c) By considering the placing in all events run.
