What the Exige has above and beyond anything else is agility.
Because it weighs little more than half the Cayman, it is one of those rare cars that you can create gaps in the traffic that you'd swear weren't there. It's almost like a superbike in that in most give-and-take situations it will dart and weave and wind its way throught traffic in which the Cayman merely has to sit....Put simply, the Lotus has as much straight-line go as any 500bhp BMW M-car. And around corners it'll leave just about anything, including Cayman, in its wake.
Better still, the Exige is one of those cars that absolutely fizzes with feel from the moment you climb aboard...
Every yard is an event every turn of the wheel or flick of the gearlever a moment to be savoured. Rarely do you get bored driving a car like the Lotus Exige.
But you might be frightened from time to time, especially if it's raining...
If you are tired, it's raining and there's a long journey to be tackled across dark and unfamiliar roads, the Exige S is, -Caterham CSR260 aside- just about the last place on four wheels in which you'd wish to be.
And that's when the Cayman comes into its own, and when you realise that despite the extra pace and ability to make the hairs on your neck's nape go stiff with pure excitement, the Lotus can't quite match the Porsche overall. Not on all 365 days of the year, and certainly not in the UK's climate.
And so the Cayman clearly wins, and in the end it does so quite easily.
Why? Because it is nearly as exciting to drive as the Lotus, very nearly as practical (albeit for 2 people and not 4) as the Focus and better than both of them in most dynamic departments.Θα ήθελα να σας γράψω και το υπόλοιπο άρθρο από το ένθετο αλλα είναι 35 σελίδες μαζί με τις pics
