Ferrari are in the clag, and no mistake. The trouble is, the top man doesn't like walking in it with his posh loafers. Luca di Montezemolo would prefer to pout and pose when a camera comes within range.
Domenicali's situation reminds me of the predicament faced by David Moyes as he struggles to carry the massive baton handed down by Sir Alex Ferguson. Manchester United was moulded by the dour Scot to such an extent that Moyes was in a no-win situation: if success continued, it was to be expected; if the team failed, blame would be laid at his method of management

- Moyes is a really bad manager, that is a fact.
- Di Montezemolo created the dream team, that blasted your darling Ron Dennis, arguably F1s own Satan, out of the history books.
- Domenicali was not just a stooge for Luca, but implemented reorganisation after reorganisation, and failed for a long time.
- Di Montezemolo kept more faith in him than Dennis ever did with Whitmarsh.
So please get your smug pom face out of your union jack underwear and smell the coffee: the current problems at Ferrari are not Di Montezemolo's fault

He replied: ‘That’s great, I have a Guzzi Le Mans’, which was a big rival to the 900SS, ‘Can I have a go on the Ducati?’ I said: ‘Of course, be my guest.’ So off he went. I could hear him rumbling round the industrial estate. He came back with a big smile on his face and said when can you start? That was the interview and I was in.”
