Newey doubts he'll ever work with Schumacher
Adrian Newey doubts that he will ever get to work alongside seven time World Champion Michael Schumacher.
The highly respected Briton, formerly at successful British squads Williams and McLaren, suspects he will see out his last days in Formula One with his new employer, Red Bull.
''I have a three year contract,'' Newey told Motorsport Aktuell magazine, ''but I would like to stay here for longer than that, before I finish my career in motor sport.''
Newey has worked with top drivers including Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost and Mika Hakkinen, but he always admitted wanting to share a team with Schumacher, and at one time was even linked with a switch to Ferrari.
He laments: ''It would have been great to work with 'Schumi'.''
In fact, Newey even rules out linking up again with a driver like Kimi Raikkonen, after admitting that Red Bull Racing is not yet 'attractive enough' to nab a truly top pilot.

Fissi blames team
Renault principal Flavio Briatore admitted on Monday that the Roman driver qualified poorly 'because of our mistake', but did not elaborate.
However, Fisichella - whose runaway teammate Fernando Alonso netted his third win on the trot in England - told an Italian newspaper that his car had been set-up too close to the ground.
''The team's mistake cost me the front row,'' the 33-year-old said, ''otherwise I would have been able to fight with Alonso for the podium.
He added: ''They did not tell me they were going to lower the car, which made it hit the track and be too slow.''
Fisichella explained that, due to the parc ferme rule, he was then stuck with the disadvantage in the race, and also had to run higher tyre pressures to keep the 'R26' from bottoming out.
He will test this week at Monza.

Coulthard slams 'disgusting' Montoya
From autosport.com
Red Bull's David Coulthard has slammed McLaren rival Juan Pablo Montoya, branding the Colombian's driving as 'disgusting'.
Silverstone stewards are investigating an incident involving Montoya and Coulthard after the Scot complained that the McLaren driver had blocked him during the second part of qualifying.
Coulthard said after qualifying that Montoya had driven dangerously to have revenge at him for having slowed him down, something Coulthard claims he hadn't done.
'I let Montoya past coming out of Club corner and he came very close to my car, which I think he was trying to say I held him up, which I didn't but if he thought I did then he should come and speak to me afterwards,' said Coulthard.
'Squeezing against my car is a little bit dangerous and later on that lap he ran wide and then drove very slowly through the last two corners. There is no damage to the car so he was driving slowly to stop me starting my lap normally. The rules are clear: you are not allowed to impede another driver.
'His default setting is to behave in a bad way and the only way to communicate with someone like that is to use the same language.'
Coulthard is hopeful the stewards will penalise Montoya for what the Scot said was 'unacceptable' and 'disgusting' driving.
'They will talk to him, so there will be something there,' added Coulthard. 'I am not trying to profit from it, he has a quicker car so would be in front of him. It is not about this qualifying session, it is about driving standards and etiquette.
'Everyone was in such a hoo-haa about Michael's driving actions in Monaco and he didn't involve anyone else at that moment in time, where Montoya has been involved in incidents with other cars, and they are just trying to do the same thing.
'It is disgusting the way he drives, it is not the mark of a man and I think it's unacceptable.
'It is all a matter of education and some people have reached their max and cannot learn any more. The stewards are the only people that will change it...but even after Monaco last year he claimed the stewards were too harsh with their penalty. How can you communicate with someone like that?'
Coulthard qualified in 11th position, three places behind Montoya.

Coulthard apologises for simian simile**
11/06/2006
David Coulthard has apologised to Juan Pablo Montoya for comments made about the Colombian driver to the British media.
On Saturday, race fans witnessed a clearly agitated Coulthard shaking his fist at the McLaren team as he made his way back to his own garage, the Scot believing that Montoya had deliberately held him up as he prepared to begin a flying lap.
Race stewards subsequently investigated the Red Bull driver's complaint but decided the incident needed no further action.
However, a number of British newspapers today quoted Coulthard as making derogatory remarks about the McLaren driver, comparing him to a monkey.
'I wouldn't waste my time by going to see Juan Pablo,' the Scot is quoted as saying. 'It would be like going to a zoo and trying to communicate with a chimpanzee. We speak a different language, so there is no point talking to him.'
This afternoon, Montoya, who finished sixth, told reporters that he had received an apology from the Scot.
'He came and apologised this morning,' the McLaren driver revealed. 'It was nice.
'I said 'you haven't even talked to me in the six years I've been here so it's hard to say why you don't even trust me if I've never done anything to you',' added the Colombian.
'I was coming into the pits as he was starting his lap and he was never close enough for me to pick up the pace,' he continued. 'I went through the gravel, stayed right and went into the pits. He said he had to back off to make sure I didn't screw his lap, but I wasn't planning to.'

Well done Louise Goodman
ITV Sports Louise Goodman made history during the British Grand Prix when she became the first woman to take part in a 'live' Formula 1 pit stop.
Louise is used to the cut-and-thrust of the pit lane, of course, but this time she was involved as a participant rather than just an observer, as she was entrusted with changing the left-rear wheel on Tiago Monteiros Midland car. The pit stop duly went off without a hitch and afterwards an adrenaline-fuelled Louise conveyed her reaction to ITV Sport viewers.
My heart is still going 19 to the dozen, but I cant tell whether that is excitement or relief, she said. It all happened much slower than I imagined. I saw Tiagos car coming down the pit lane and then it was just a question of doing what we had rehearsed dozens of times before.'
The tyre was sticky and the wheel rim was hot, but it went smoothly. A fantastic experience.
For the Midland team the race was rather more routine, Christijan Albers and Monteiro bringing their cars home safely in 15th and 16th place but unable to replicate their impressive form from practice and qualifying.
well done louise

Fisichella expecting to be confirmed
With a Finn as his Renault team-mate...Giancarlo Fisichella has dropped a whopping hint about what Renault's 2007 driver line up will look like.
The Roman racer, testing his blue car at Monza on Tuesday, suggested that not only will he soon be confirmed as a continuing Renault driver, but that his new team-mate will be Finnish.
'Quite often Flavio (Briatore) speaks well of me,' 33-year-old Fisichella told La Gazzetta dello Sport, 'and everyone in the team is happy with the job I am doing.' ναι ε?
He said in Italy: 'I really hope to stay. And who is going to replace (Fernando) Alonso next year? Surely, a Finn.'
While it is faintly possible that Fisichella is referring to Kimi Raikkonen, the 'Finn' in question is more likely to be Renault tester Heikki Kovalainen, who drove alongside the Italian on Tuesday.
Fisichella was quoted as saying: 'I hope for confirmation shortly.'
Fisichella also admitted to some disappointment about his championship tally this year, despite the fact that he has so far collected more points than at the same time in 2005.
'Of course, I would like to have the same amount as Alonso,' he said, 'but I have had some problems, some little problems, especially in qualifying which is so crucial.'
Referring to Malaysia, Fisichella added: 'The only time that things went well (in qualifying) I won the race.'
It was also the only time it did not go right for his team-mate...

*Jacques Villeneuve has explained his resignation from the Grand Prix Drivers' Association following last weekend's meeting at Silverstone. During the meeting, Michael Schumacher's incident in qualifying for Monaco was discussed and Villeneuve had been calling for his resignation, claiming after he was punished for blocking the track the German could no longer hold his director position.
But Schumacher explained himself - and all the good things he has done for the GPDA over the years and remained in post. Villeneuve quit the organisation but declined from making a big hoo-ha about it.
'I don't want to be a member of a body that is represented by someone I don't respect,' Villeneuve said on his personal web site. 'I can only give my personal opinion and I'm not happy someone can run the GPDA and act like that.'
