            **Massa urged to help Alonso's title bid **

            Ferrari has urged Felipe Massa to do his bit in the final four races of the season to help Fernando Alonso capture the world championship title.

            With Alonso's back-to-back victories in Italy and Singapore having rekindled Ferrari's title challenge, the Maranello-based team now wants Massa to play a key role in taking the points off rival teams that could be key to helping his team-mate triumph.

            Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo was quoted as saying by Gazzetta dello Sport at the Paris Motor Show: 'I have waited for Felipe with great perseverance in the last four races. I want a strong Massa who will shave points off the rivals.

            'In Singapore he had some bad luck, but he is in good condition to win. Those who race for Ferrari don't race for themselves, but for the Ferrari team colours. One who wants to race for himself will have to face his team.'

            The call to arms for Massa comes in the wake of the controversial German Grand Prix this year where the Brazilian was asked by his team to sacrifice victory in favour of Alonso.

            That decision resulted in the team getting fined and facing an FIA World Motor Sport Council hearing, but di Montezemolo believes that move was a key element in helping the outfit get back in the title chase.

            Speaking about the reasons for Ferrari's resurgence, di Montezemolo said: 'First of all the decision to focus on Alonso has been proven to be right. He is extremely strong and very close to the team, and has been able to blend in well from day one despite the concerns of some.

            'The second is the spirit of determination of the team that has never been broken and disjointed, it has shown great ability to respond and fight back and knows how to win even under pressure. The third is to have also focused on people like [Stefano] Domenicali and [Aldo] Costa who have proven to be absolutely vital'.

            Di Montezemolo also has no doubts that Ferrari will repeat history and take the championship fight all the way to the finale in Abu Dhabi.

            'It has been a strange season,' he said. 'We won the first race, then we had some problems with the development of the car. The victories at Monza and Singapore have rekindled hope.

            'I've been thinking about one thing and I invite you to do so too: from 1997, if we exclude the year 2005, we either won the F1 championship or we lost it in the last race.

            'Ferrari has always been team to beat. We won eight constructors' world championships in the last ten years, it is important for me to reach the highest levels in Formula 1 this year as well. We're second and we will contest the championships until the very end.'

                  ναι το είχα διαβάσει κι εγώ. Από το 2013 με τους turbo γιατί όχι;

                        Lotus & Cosworth υπέγραψαν λύση της συνεργασίας τους μετά τη 30η Νοέμβρη.

                        Ανοίγει ο δρόμος για μοτέρ Renault.

                              Αν δεν κάνω λάθος η φωτιά στη Lotus του HK προκλήθηκε από διαρροή καυσίμου μετά από μικροεπαφή, δεν είχε σχέση με τον κινητήρα.

                                Θεωρώ ιδανική τη στιγμή για επιστροφή της Porsche και συνεργασία με την McLaren που αργά ή γρήγορα θα αφήσει τη Mercedes. Πολύ περισσότερο αν τελικά ισχύσει η επιστροφή σε turbo μοτέρ μικρού κυβισμού.

                                    Έχεις απόλυτο δίκιο. Επίσης, η Lotus δεν έχει κανένα πρόβλημα με τα μοτέρ της Cosworth. Το πρόβλημα είναι με το κιβώτιο της Xtrac το οποίο και θέλει να ξεφορτωθεί για χάρη αυτού της Renault. Η Renault όμως το πουλάει πακέτο με το μοτέρ της, οπότε αναγκαστικά έπρεπε να χωρίσουν οι δρόμοι της Lotus και της Cosworth.

                                        Branson backs call to remove blue flags

                                        Richard Branson has backed the call from Lotus boss Tony Fernandes to get rid of blue flags in grand prix racing.

                                        Fernandes, whose team has made its Formula 1 debut this year, said earlier this season that he believed the sport would benefit from not having blue flags.

                                        'Drivers are paid to overtake, whether they are back markers or at the front,' said Fernandes back in May. 'I think it would be good for the sport to get rid of blue flags. In the days of Ken Tyrrell, he would never let any car pass.

                                        'If it's really hard for a world champion to get past a backmarker then I think it's a sad day for racing. I think racing is all about getting past people and overtaking and adding a little bit of 'je ne sais quoi'.

                                        'You've got a driver saying it's ridiculous that he's lapping someone four times, so why should he be complaining about overtaking a guy that he's lapping four times?'

                                        Branson, the main backer of newcomer Virgin Racing, agreed with Fernandes, as he reckons the sport would be more entertaining without them.

                                        'It would be a lot more fun if they didn't have blue flags,' said Branson. 'I am sure some of the more established teams would not like it, but it is a racing track and they should not have to be told to pull over.

                                        'If that is what Tony is saying, I definitely agree with him. It doesn't sound like racing - and it makes a bit of a mockery of the sport.'

                                        Virgin Racing's CEO Graeme Lowdon reckons blue flags hurt smaller teams too much, as they lose big amounts of time letting the leading drivers through.

                                        'We get a blue flag three seconds before someone approaches us, and at the moment three seconds is almost a lap and you have to let them by within four corners,' he said. 'So we have situations where our guys are pulling to one side and the car behind cannot catch up.

                                        'It's a massive compromise over the whole of a race. We do this graph of time against distance, and you look at the graph and you immediately see where the blue flags start because up to a point of the race we are there or thereabouts in terms of pace, but then it drops away.

                                        'The issue is that you get the flags so early - and three seconds is quite a long time. And you have to tell your driver to let the guy past but you cannot speed the car up behind. It has ruined a lot of racing for us.'

                                        Ο @f1enigma επίσης λέει ότι μάλλον ο Petrov ανανεώνει για άλλη μια χρονιά με τη Renault και ότι πολύ πιθανόν να 'χωρίσουν' οι δρόμοι της Ferrari με τον Μάσσα.

                                          Όπως λέει και το γνωστό βιντεάκι από την Ελληνοφρένεια 'Καλαμούκη ζητήσατε, Καλαμούκη θα λάβετε...'.
                                          Θέλατε μικρές ομάδες για να αναβιώσει το ρομαντικό πνεύμα των γκαραζιέρηδων της δεκαετίας του '60;
                                          Βαρεθήκατε τις εργοστασιάρες που 'αποστειρώνουν' το αγνό αγωνιστικό πνεύμα της F1;
                                          Γουστάρατε τα μισά μονοθέσια να φοράνε Cosworth για να θυμάστε τα παλιά και να γουστάρετε;
                                          Φάτε σκατά τώρα... Γιατί και ο ρομαντικός γκαραζιέρης μπορεί να είναι ρομαντικός αλλά έχει και ένα φιλότιμο (χορηγούς) και θέλει και αυτός λιγουλάκι από την τηλεοπτική κάλυψη. Άρα κόφτε τώρα τις μπλε σημαίες και μετά από 2-3 χρόνια βάλτε και τροχονόμους (συνάδει και με το πνεύμα των gp σε δρόμους πόλης) και καλή διασκέδαση...
                                          Εγώ λέω βγάλτε τις μπλε σημαίες με την προϋπόθεση να επανέλθει ο κανονισμός περί 107% του χρόνου της pole. Γουστάρεις Richard;
