Πολύ ενδιαφέρον, η ανακοίνωση λέει πως είναι πισοκίνητο μόνο και βλέπω στη φωτογραφία πως διατηρεί τις επιλογές του αυτόματου κιβωτίου.
Ισως είναι κάτι πιο κοντά στη φιλοσοφία του ΙΜΑ της Honda χωρίς να έχει power split όπως το Prius/RX.
Ισως πάλι απλώς να έχει κάποιες προεπιλεγμένες 'ταχύτητες' στο σύστημα ελέγχου του power split.
Το πιθανότερο είναι μιας και βλέπω έχει σύστημα άμμεσου ψεκασμού ο κινητήρας να λειτουργεί με τον κανονικό θερμοδυναμικό κύκλο όπως και στο RX, ίσως όλα τα μοντέλα της Lexus που έχουν σαν προτεραιότητα την απόδοση και όχι τόσο την οικονομία να είναι έτσι.

Lexus: Κορυφαίες αξιολογήσεις για το GS στις πλευρικές δοκιμές
Τις κορυφαίες αξιολογήσεις έλαβε στις πρόσφατες δοκιμές πλευρικής σύγκρουσης του Ασφαλιστικού Ινστιτούτου Ασφάλειας Αυτοκινητοδρόμων Αμερικής (IIHS), το νέο Lexus GS, το οποίο διαθέτει στο βασικό εξοπλισμό και αερόσακους τύπου κουρτίνας. Το πολυτελές όχημα της ιαπωνικής κατασκευάστριας έλαβε αρκετά καλά αποτελέσματα και στις δοκιμές μετωπικής σύγκρουσης, ενώ αντίθετα, οριακές ήταν οι αξιολογήσεις για την προστασία του κεφαλιού των επιβατών σε περίπτωσης οπίσθιας πρόσκρουσης. Χάρη στην προσθήκη των πλευρικών αερόσακων, τα επίπεδα τραυματισμών που καταγράφηκαν στα ανθρώπινα ομοιώματα, τόσο στις μπροστά, όσο και στις πίσω θέσεις, ήταν ιδιαίτερα χαμηλά σε κάθε κατηγορία.
Η γενική αξιολόγηση ενός αυτοκινήτου βασίζεται στην απόδοση που θα έχει έπειτα από μια πλευρική σύγκρουση, με το μπροστινό τμήμα ενός αυτοκινήτου της κατηγορίας SUV ή μικρού φορτηγού. Αρχικά καταγράφονται τα επίπεδα τραυματισμών όλων των επιβατών, ενώ στη συνέχεια αξιολογούνται οι πιθανοί τραυματισμοί στο κεφάλι και η απόδοση του οχήματος κατά τη διάρκεια της δοκιμής.
